2 باب الغسل من الجنابة Janaabah Chapter: Performing Ghusl due to عن أبي هريرة )رضن ) عن»أ ن الن بي ل قي في بع ض ط ر ق المدين ة وهو ج ن ب قال : ف ان خ ن س من ف ت ه ب ف ال ت س ف ج فق ال :»أ ي ن ك ن ت يا أ با ه ر ي ر ة «ق ال : ك ن ج ن با. ف ك ره أ ن أ جالس ك وأنا ع ى ل ي ر ط هار ة ف ق ال :»س ب حان الل ه! إ ن الم س ل م وفي رواية: الم ؤ م ن لا ي ن ج س«31 - Abu Hurayrah (radhiallaahu anhu) narrated: The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) met him in some of the streets of Al-Madeenah when he was in a state of Janaabah (major impurity). He said: So I hid from him, went to perform Ghusl and then returned. The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: 'Where were you O Abu Hurayrah?' He replied: I was in a state of Janaabah (major impurity), and I did not want to sit with you in a state of impurity. The Messenger of Allah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: SubhanaAllaah (May Allaah be glorified), A Muslim and in a narration: A believer - does not become impure." 32 عن عائشة لقال :»ك ان ر س ول ال إذ ا ال ت س ل من ال ج ن اب ة ل س ل ي د ي ف ت و ض أ ت أ ف اض ال م ا ء و ض وء ه ل ص لاة ف يغ ت سل ف ي خ ل بي د ي ش ع ر ه ح ت ى إذ ا ظ ن أ ن ق د أ ر و ى ب ش ر ع ي لاث م ر ات ف ل س ل س ائر ج س ده«32. Aaisha (radhiallaahu anhaa) narrated: "When the Messenger of Allah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) performed Ghusl from Janaabah, he would wash his hands, then perform Wudhoo like he would for the Prayer, then he would perform Ghusl (i.e. wash his body with water), then he would run his fingers through his hair to the extent he thought water would reach his skin, then he would pour water over his head three times, then wash the rest of his body." و ك ان ت ق ول :»ك ن أ ل ت سل أ ن ا و ر س ول ال من إن اء و احد ن غ ت رف من ج ميعا «. 33. She used to say: Me and the Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) would perform Ghusl from the same utensil, we would both take water from it. عن ميمونة بن الحارث ل زوج النبي أنها قال : «و ض ع لر سول ال و ضوء ال ج ن اب ة ف أ ك أ ض أ و ال ح ائط م ر ت ي ن أ و لا ا ف ب ي د ه بالأ ر بي مين ع ى ي س اره م ر ت ي ن أ و لا ا ف ل س ل ف ر ج ف ض ر ت م ض م ض و اس ت ن ش ق و ل س ل و ج ه و ذر اع ي ف أ ف اض ع ى ر أ س ال م اء ف ل س ل سائر ج س د ه ف ت ن ح ى ف غ س ل رج ي قال : ف أ ت ي ت بخر ق ة ف ف ي رد ه ا ف ج ع ل ي ن ض ال م اء بي دي» 34. Maymoonah Bint Al-Haarith (radhiallaahu anhaa), the wife of the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: I placed a utensil of water [for him to purify himself from] Janaabah. He poured water with his right hand over his left twice or three times and then washed his private parts. He rubbed his hand on the earth or on a wall twice or thee times and then rinsed his mouth, washed his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out and then washed his face and forearms and poured water over his head and washed his body. Then he shifted from that place and washed his feet. She said: I brought a piece of cloth, but he did not take it and removed the traces of water from his body 2

3 with his hand." 35 عن عبد ال بن عمر أن عمر بن الخطاب )رضن ) عن قال:»ي ا ر س ول ال أ ي ر ق د أ ح د ن ا و ه و ج ن ب «ق ال :»ن ع م إذ ا ت و ض أ أ ح د ك م ف ل ي ر ق د وهو جنب«35. Abdullah Ibn Umar narrated that Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab (radhiallaahu anhumaa) said: O Messenger of Allaah, can one of us lie down whilst in a state of Janaabah? He replied: Yes, if you perform Wudhoo then you may lie down whilst in a state of Janaabah. 36 عن أم س مة ل زوج النبي قال :»ج اء ت أ م س ي ف ام ر أ ة أ بي ط ح ة إل ى ر س ول ال. ف ق ال : ي ا ر س ول ال إن ال لا ي س ت ح يي من ال ح ق ف ه ل ع ى ال م ر أ ة من ل س ل إذ ا ه ي اح ت م ف ق ال ر س ول ال :»ن ع م إذ ا هي ر أ ت الم اء «36. Umm Salamah (radhiallaahu anhaa) the wife of the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: Umm Sulaym the wife of Abu Talha - came to the Messenger of Allah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam)) and said, O Messenger of Allah, Surely, Allah is not shy of the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to perform Ghusl after she has a wet dream? The Messenger of Allah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam)) replied: Yes, if she notices a discharge. عن عائشة ل قال :»ك ن أ ل س ل ال ج ن اب ة من و ب ر سول ال ال م اء في و ب» ف ي خ ر ج إل ى الص لاة و إن ب ق 37. Aaishah (radhiallaahu anhaa) said: I used to wash the remnants of Janaabah (i.e. semen) from the clothing of the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam), he would go out for the Prayer and traces of water were still in his clothing.» وفي ل ظ لمس ف «ل ق د ك ن أ ف ر ك من و ب ر س ول ال ف ر كا, ف ي ص ي في,(ﷺ) In the wording of Muslim: I used to scrape it [the semen] off the clothing of the Messenger of Allaah and he would pray in it. أن رسول ال قال:»إذ ا ج ل س ب ي ن ش ع ب ا الأ ر ب م 38 عن أبي هريرة )رضن ) عن ج د ه ا ف ق د و ج ب ال غ س ل «وفي ل ظ لمس ف:»و إ ن ل م ي ن ز ل «38. Upon the authority of Abu Hurayrah (radhiallaahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said; The Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, If one of you sits between her legs (of a woman) and penetrates her, then Ghusl (bath) is obligatory. In the wording of Muslim: even if he does not ejaculate عن أب ي جع ر محمد بن ع ي بن الحسين بن ع ي ب»أ ن ك ان ه و و أ ب وه عن د ج ابر ب ن ع ب د ال و عن د ه ق و م. ف س أ ل وه ع ن ال غ س ل ف ق ال : ي ك يك ص اع. ف ق ال ر ج ل : م ا ي ك يني. ف ق ال ج ابر : ك ان ي ك ي م ن ه و أ و ف ى من ك ش ع ر ا و خ ي را م ن ك ي ريد ر س ول ال ف أ م ن ا في و ب«39. Abu Ja far Muhammad Ibn Alee Ibn Al-Hussayn Ibn Alee (radhiaallaahu anhum) said: While I and my 3

He replied, "One Saa` of water is sufficient for you." A man said, "One Saa` is not sufficient for me." Jabir said, "One Saa` was sufficient for one who had more hair than you and was better than you." And then Jabir (put on) his garment and led the prayer. وفي ل ظ»ك ان ر س ول ال ي رغ ال م ا ء ع ى ر أ س لا ا «In a wording: The Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) would pour water over his head three times. قال )رضن ) عن : الر ج ل ال تي قال»م ا ي ك يني«هو الحسن بن محمد بن ع ي بن أبي طالب )رضن ) عن وأبوه محمد ابن الحن ية He (radhiallaahu anhu) said: The mean who said: It is not sufficient for me was Al-Hassan Ibn Muhammad Ibn Alee Ibn Abee Taalib (radhiaallaahu anhum), his father is Muhammad Ibn Al-Hanafiyyah. باب الت ي م ف Chapter: Tayammum 40 عن عمران بن حصين )رضن ) عن :»أ ن ر س ول ) ر أ ى ر ج لا م ع ت زلا ل ف ي ص ل في ال ق و م ف ق ال :»ي ا ف لان م ا م ن ع ك أ ن ت ص ل ي ف ي ال ق و م «ف ق ال : ي ا ر سول ال أ ص اب ت ني ج ن اب ة و لا م اء ف ق ال :»ع ل ي ك ب الص ع يد ف إ ن ه ي ك ف ي ك» 40. Umran Ibn Hussayn (radhiallaahu anhu) narrated: The Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) saw a man by himself not praying with the other people (i.e. congregation). So he said to him: O so-and-so, what prevented you from praying with the congregation? He replied, O Messenger of Allaah, by Allaah I was affected by Janaabah, and there was no water. The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) replied: Upon you is earth (ie using soil for Taymmum), it will suffice you. عن عمار بن ياسر ب قال:»ب ع ث ني الن بي في ح اج ة. ف أ ج ن ب. ف ف أ جد الم اء ف ت م ر ل في الصعيد ك م ا ت م ر غ الد اب ة ف أ ت ي الن ب ي ف ت ك ر ت ذ لك ل. ف ق ال :»إن م ا كان ي ك ف ي ك أ ن ت ق ول ب ي د ي ك ه ك ذ ا«ف ض ر ب بي د ي الأ ر ض ض ر ب ة و احد ة ف م س الشم ال ع ى ال ي مين و ظ اهر ك ي و و ج ه «. 41. Ammaar Ibn Yaasir said, the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) sent me on some errands and I became Junub (state of major impurity), and could not find water. I rolled in the dirt just as an animal does. I then came to the Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) and mentioned that to him. He said, "It would have been enough for you that you do the following with your hands" and he struck the earth with his hands once, then he wiped the right hand with the left hand, and the outside of the palms of his hands and his face. عن جابر بن عبد ال الأنصاري ب أن النبي قال:»أ ع ط يت خ م سال ل م ي ع ط ن أ ح د م ن الأ ن ب ي ا ء ت ب الر ع ب م س ير ة ش ر و ج ع ل ت ل ي الأ ر م س ج دا و ورا. ف أ ي م ا ر ج ل م ن أ م ت ي ق ب ل ي: ن ص أ د ر ك ت ه الصلاة ف ل ي ص ل و أ ح ل ت ل ي ال م غ ان م و ل م ت ح ل لأ ح د ق ب ل ي و أ ع ط يت الا ف اع و ك ان ال نب ي ي ب ع ث إل ى ق و م ه خ اص و ب ع ث ت إل ى الن اس ع ا م» 4

5 Umdat Al-Ahkaam Book of Purification: Part Upon the authority of Jaabir Ibn Abdillah who said: The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "I have been given five things which were not given to anyone else before me. Allah gave me victory due to fear and awe [in the heart of his enemies] for a distance of one month's journey. The earth has been made for me a place for praying and a way of purification, so whoever from my Ummah reaches a time of Prayer should pray. The war booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me yet it was not lawful for anyone else before me. I have been given the Shafaa ah (the right of intercession on the Day of Resurrection). Every Prophet was sent to his nation only but I have been sent to all mankind. باب الحيض bleeding Chapter: Menstrual عن عائشة ل»أ ن ف اطم ة بن أ بي ح ب ي ش : س أ ل الن بي ف ق ال : إني أ س ت ح اض ف لا أ ط ه ر أ ف أ د ع الص لاة ق ال :»لا إن ذ ل ك ع ر ق و ل ك ن د ع ي الص لاة ق د ر الأ ي ام ال ت ي ك ن ت ت ح يض ين ف ي ا م اغ ت س ل ي و ص ل ي«. و في رو اي ة «و ل ي س ب ال ح ي ض ف إ ذ ا أ ق ب ل ت ال ح ي ض ف اغ س ل ي ع ن ك الد م و ص ل ي«. ف ات ر ك ي الصلاة ف ي ا ف إ ذ ا ذ ه ب ق د ر ه ا 43. Aaisha (radhiallaahu anhaa) said: Faatimah Bint Abee Hubaysh asked the Prophet (sal Allaah alayhi wa sallam): I bleed Istihaadhah (continuous non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) and I do not reach a state of purity, should I leave the prayer? He replied: No, it is only bleeding from a vein. Leave the Prayer for the days you normally bleed from menses, then wash the blood from yourself and pray. عن عائشة ل»أ ن أ م ح بيب ة ا س ت حيض س ب س نين. ف سأ ل ر سول ال ت غ ت سل فق ال :»هذا ع رق «ف ك ان ت غ ت سل لك ل ص لاة» ع ن ذ لك ف أ م ر ه ا أ ن 44. Upon the authority of the Aaisha (radhiallaahu anhaa) who said: "Umm Habeebah suffered from Istihadah (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) for seven years. She asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) regarding it. He ordered her to perform Ghusl and then said: 'It is bleeding from a vein. so perform Ghusl then pray.'" عن عائشة ل قال :»ك ن أ ل ت سل أ ن ا و ر س ول ال من إن اء و احد كلانا ج ن ب«45. Aaisha (radhiallaahu anha) said: Me and the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) used to perform Ghusl from one utensil, both of us were in a state of Janaabah.»و ك ان ني و أ ن ا ح ائ ض» ف ي ب اشر ي أ م ر ني ف أ ت زر 46. He (ﷺ) used to order me to put on an Izaar (dress worn below the waist) and used to fondle me, whilst I am in a state of menstruation.»و ك ان ي خ رج ر أ س إل ي و ه و م ع ت كف ف أ ل س و أ ن ا ح ائض» 47. He (ﷺ) used to bring him head out whilst in a state of I tikaaf, I would wash it whilst I was in a state of menstruation. 5

6 عن عائشة ل قال :»ك ان ر س ول ال ي ت كئ في حج ري و أ ن ا ح ائض ف ي ق ر أ ال ق ر آ ن«48. Upon the authority of Aaishah (RadhiAllaahu anha) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to lean on my lap whilst I was in a state of menstruation and he would recite Qur an. ع ن م ع اذ ة بن عبدال ق ال :»س أ ل ع ائش ة ل ف ق : م ا ب ال ال ح ائض ت ق ضن الص و م و لا ت ق ضن الصلاة ف ق ال : أ ح ر وري ة أ ن ف ق : ل س بح ر وري ة و ل كني أ سأ ل. ف ق ال : ك ان يصيب ن ا ذ ل ك ن ؤ م ر بق ض اء الص لاة» ف ن ؤ م ر بق ض اء الص و م و لا 49. Upon the authority of Mu aadhah Ibn Abdillah who said: I asked Aaishah (radiaallaau anhaa) and said: Why is it that a woman in her menses must make up her fasts but does not need to make up her prayers? She relied: Are you a Hurooriyyah? I replied: I am not a Hurooriyyah, but I am asking. So Aaisha said: We used to be affected [by menstruation bleeding) and we were ordered to make up our fasts [at a later stage] and we were not ordered to make up the Prayers. 6
